We are currently looking to fill the position of Strategic Planning Engineer/ Long term Planner in the Mine Department.

Reporting to the Chief Mine Engineer, the Strategic Planning Engineer/ Strategic Long-Term Planner will be responsible for maximizing the value of Rambler Mining & Metals assets through the use of strategic and long-range mine planning. The Strategic Planning Engineer/ Strategic Long-Term Planner will thoroughly understand the economic drivers of the entire value stream and will focus on the long-range planning process by maintaining and updating the long-range plan. The position will be a key contributor working closely with the engineering team, geology, operations, and corporate members. The primary focus of this role is 18-months and beyond.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for the completion and maintenance of annual, 18-month and LOM plans. The scope includes Operating and Capital Development plans as well as the identification and scoping of Capital Sustaining and Growth.

• Includes the integration of guidance from key internal and external stakeholders.

• Responsible for the completion and maintenance of Resource Costing sheets to accompany plans.

• Collaboration with other key stakeholders: 

o With Geology establishes timelines for areas to be converted from inferred to measured and indicated or adding confidence in reserve material and to incorporate Diamond Drill platforms into the LOM plans. Additionally works with Resource Geologist to review and confirm changes to global resource as drilling continues to change the current global model.

o Resident Engineer and Project Engineer - together incorporate long term infrastructure requirements, construction, and maintenance projects into overall mine plans.

o The Mine Superintendent – to review and establish labour requirements for mining plans, and to add “mineability” details to the planning.

o Mine Engineers – work together to modify the

• Undertake options analysis to continuously improve mine designs and sequencing.

• Coaches and mentor other members of the Engineering Department, advises the Chief Engineer on opportunities to develop these individuals to their full potential, and actively assists in their growth plans.

• Deliverables submitted on time, error-free and neatly formatted.

• Effectively communicate the long term mine plans to allow management to make the best short term and long-term possible decisions.

• Communicate with site and corporate management on progress of planning and design. Adhere to timelines, and best practices in design and reporting.

• Conduct and/or support engineering trade-off studies, scoping studies, pre-feasibility studies and feasibility studies.

• Provide input to, including completion of AFE’s and economic justifications for projects.

• Contribute to monthly reporting and variance analysis against budget and forecast, as so far as the long-term impact of short-term variances. 

• Provide technical support to mine operations, construction and technical services in achieving mid-term and long-term objectives;

• Development of mid and end-of-year mineral reserves for reporting in co-operation with the geology department;

• Scanning of industry for new innovation and technology that may be beneficial to RMM

Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Mining Engineering/ Mining Engineering Technologist or related field or equivalent experience required

• 3-5 years experience in underground engineering/ planning preferred

• Excellent safety record with the ability to demonstrate safety leadership required

• Team leadership, problem solving, and excellent verbal and written communication skills required

• Ability to cross-train within the mining engineering group required

• Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of this job required

Safety The individual will have the authority and responsibility for maintaining a safe and efficient working environment. He or she must follow company safety and health standards and report any unsafe acts or conditions to his or her supervisor.
