Longhole Blaster (Expression of Interest)


We are currently looking for Expression of Interest from experienced Longhole Blasters for upcoming positions within our operation at Rambler Metals & Mining.

Duties and Responsibilities:

·         Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety rules and procedures.

·         Execute safe handling, transportation, detonation and storage of explosives on surface and underground   

·         Follow all blast hole loading instructions and follow change protocol clearance maps

·         Become proficient in the safe operation and maintenance requirements of the bulk explosives vehicle with explosives from onsite inventory.

·         Places explosives into drill hole. Measures the amount and location of each explosive charge. Follow charge plans issued by the Engineering Department and record loading information on the blast plans for record keeping purposes.

·         Connects the holes using the proper time delay to makes sure shot is fired in a safe and cost effective manner.

·         Must have prior longhole blasting experience knowledge to make proper decisions concerning blast hole size, spacing or depth, quantity of explosives in each hole, total quantity of explosives to be detonated and delay periods to be used.

·         Maintain explosive inventory count logs and blasting reports, communicate product order requisitions when required.



The successful candidate will ideally possess the following qualifications:

·         Blasting experience an asset

·         Able to work independently

·         Good knowledge of surface blasting requirements

·         Knowledge of Mines Safety Workers Regulations under the Newfoundland and Labrador Mines Act.

·         Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.

·         Must be able to communicate and coordinate planned activities with co-workers and supervisors.

·         Must have high safety standards using all engineered safety mechanisms and the required personal protective equipment

·         Must be able to read and understand Material Safety Data Sheets.

·         Must become familiar with the approved blasting plan or techniques and site specific performance standards.

·         Must be physically fit to complete the daily workload and able to work in all weather conditions.
