LHD Operator (Expression of Interest)


We are currently looking for Expression of Interest from experienced LHD Operators for upcoming positions within our operation at Rambler Metals & Mining.

Job Summary
The primary role of a LHD Operator is to load, haul and dump ore or waste from development and/or production area. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Refuels, checks coolant and engine/hydraulic oils, and lubricates all points.
  • Complete standard daily check forms and drive equipment to and from work area.
  • Visually inspects, sounds, scales and washes down work area, if required.
  • Operates scooptram to load bucket with ore/waste; loads onto truck, and transports mine supplies.
  • Advances vent tubing, installs or removes air and water pipes to facilitate own work.
  • Operate traffic control signals where applicable and responds to signals to prevent vehicle accidents.
  • Completes daily log book on equipment and submits written and verbal reports.
  • Reports progress and any unusual occurrences to supervisor.
  • Maintain working area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Identify unsafe conditions in underground headings - high level of alertness required.
  • Receive instructions or directives from Shift Supervisors and Mine Superintendant to coordinate day to day production/waste requirements;
  •  Inspect equipment structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • 1+ years of experience as a LHD Operator or equivalent experience in an underground environment.
  • Dependability, responsible and reliable to fulfill obligations.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to communicate and coordinate planned activities with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Must have high safety standards using all engineered safety mechanisms and the required personal protective equipment.
  • Must be physically fit to complete the daily workload and able to work in all weather conditions
  • Must be willing to sit for long periods of time.
  • Must be willing to work with a team to achieve the results required through cooperativeness and effective communication.
  • Must have the ability to judge which of several objects is closer or farther away, or to judge the distance between you and an object.
