We are currently recruiting 2 Lab Techniciansto join our Nugget Pond Operations, reporting directly to the Metallurgist and/or the Mill Superintendent.

Duties and Responsibilities:


·         Perform all duties in a safe and orderly manner

·         Reports to Metallurgist and/or Mill Superintendent

·         Operate the Microwave Plasma, including calibration/curve/set up

·         Record samples on log sheet

·         Keep sample room/area clean and tidy

·         Collect truck samples/Test for moisture

·         Mix chemicals

·         Collect truck samples. Analyze samples for moisture

·         Prepare geology samples – Includes using jaw crusher, cone crusher, pulverizer and digestion of samples

·         Check dust collector daily

·         Perform sieve analysis

·         Packaging samples/completing requisitions for external analysis

·         Ensure safe work practices and safety of working areas is maintained.

·         Report all safety hazards, environmental hazards, incidents, damage, breakdowns and potential plant or equipment stoppages to a Supervisor.

·         Carry out check of work area at start of shift and regularly during shift.

·         Compliance with Statutory and regulatory requirements.

·         Complete shift work and participate in a call out roster.

·         Maintain good level of housekeeping, keep workshops and work areas clean at all times


The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

·         Work experience in a Laboratory/Environment would be an advantage

·         Familiar with Laboratory equipment such as Microwave Plasma, cone crusher, jaw crusher, pulverizer

·         Experience with Excel

·         Commited to personal safety and the environment.

·         Able to work rotating shift hours;

·         Innovative problem solver

·         Work with /without supervision

·         Ability to work as a team


The individual will have the authority and responsibility for maintaining a safe and efficient working environment. He or she must follow company safety and health standards and report any unsafe acts or conditions to his or her supervisor. The individual is responsible for the use of all safety equipment, i.e., lanyards, warning signs and labeling, according to company rules and applicable legislation. He or she is also responsible to ensure proper use of personal protective equipment.
