Job Summary

As part of our executive team, you will use your experience and technical expertise to lead, advise, and develop key engineering projects for the Company.  These projects include major fixed process plant installations, industrial power transformation and reticulation, shaft installations, tailings and water treatment facilities, in addition you will provide guidance and development for the engineering team (mechanical/electrical) at the mine. You are known for keeping best practices top of mind while exhibiting a high degree of professionalism on projects. Ultimately, you will ensure that the departments you are responsible for are working as cohesive, high performance teams who are in line with the Companies strategies that will help us achieve our immediate and long-term business goals.

Responsibilities will include: 

• Provide controlling oversight of engineering function for the Company including Mobile and Fixed Plant Maintenance, the Electrical department, Mine Services and the Wastewater Treatment Plant;
• Major shutdown planning
• Share your knowledge and be a role model through mentorship opportunities with project team members;
• Help to identify and then oversee the design and delivery of mine engineering projects, particularly in mine services (e.g. electrical distribution, pumping systems, compressed air delivery)
• Work together to support other departments to help achieve mine production targets with respect to their Engineering needs;
• Ensure work products are consistent with regulatory and company policies and procedures;
• Identify planning opportunities and recommend/implement action plans;
• Ensure projects adhere to plan and that industry standards and regulations/guidelines are followed;
• Ensure that any special permits needed are obtained before project commences;
• Recommend innovative methods to increase effectiveness and efficiency to ensure excellence and productivity in all projects;
• Hiring, training, evaluation, and development of departmental staff;
• Build beneficial partnerships with appropriate vendors, industry professionals, government departments, and other stakeholders.
• Demonstrate leadership in Health, Safety and Environmental Protection on the projects you direct;

Qualifications and Experience:

• B.Sc. Mechanical or Electrical Engineering;
• Demonstrable focus on safe operations;
• Registration or eligibility for registration with PEGNL or equivalent;
• Ten (10) years industrial experience in a senior role in underground hard rock operations and mineral processing;
• Skilled in supervising, evaluating, training, and motivating employees;

·         Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

The individual will have the authority and accountability for maintaining a safe and efficient working environment. He or she must follow company safety and health standards and report any unsafe acts or conditions to his or her supervisor. The individual is responsible for the use of all safety equipment, i.e., lanyards, warning signs and labeling, according to company rules and applicable legislation. He or she is also responsible to ensure proper use of personal protective equipment.
